The Department of JOURNALISM & MASS COMMUNICATION was set up in the year 2008. The Department started with one teacher Snehashis Shau, who contributed in numerous ways to build up the Department. Since then the number of students kept on increasing gradually and the Department grew in strength.
Program outcomes:Journalism and Mass Communication Only honours students of the three languages (Bengali, Hindi, English) or Political Science students only can choose Journalism & Mass Communication as their General subject. The said subject gives a fundamental understanding about different aspects of professional Journalism as well as mass communication, as the role of fourth state, how does it deal with the whole world, functioning with education, politics and governance, historical aspect, or an understanding of society, public, their opinion, truth, fact, etc. Professional skills of the media industry are taught through Journalism and Mass Communication. Comprehending and writing skills in different three languages are imparted through the elective language courses.
Program specific outcomes:The subject of Journalism and Mass communication orients the students to have a journalistic capacity of analysis of facts towards social issues as well as the whole world. Students learn to look all incidents cum issues with objectivity, learn to interpret facts and truth, learn to be capable to do field work, students are taught to analysis publics, their opinion and understand all with mass communication and its theoretical perspective within the society.



Infrastructure
Departmental library for access of students. Two Computer with internet connection. Printer.
There is a sufficiently equipped media laboratory where practical classes are held. Over the years, a good number of books and journals have been purchased, which are available at the College Library, moreover the Department has a Departmental book bank which lends out books to extremely needy students for the whole year.
Academic Activities
The Department is preparing to publish a Departmental news bulletin which will give the students in-house training on report writing, feature writing, editorial writing, photography, and other skills related to their syllabus. Experts line…Department organizes regularly workshops,seminars,student seminars,debate competition, wall magazine publishing, various competition, field work. Participation in debate, photography, drama, music, quiz competition in other colleges and universities also etc.
