The Department of Geography in Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College was set up in June, 2003 as a separate Department for offering
undergraduate general course and also for creating provisions for offering honours course in future. Honours course in geography has been introduced since
July 2005. Total number of seats in 2005 for honours course was 15. Now it has been increased to 30. Teachers of the Deparment are associated with master
degree program in geography offered by other universities.
Infrastructure:
The Department has well equipped laboratory with computer and GIS software, laptop, scanner, LCD and overhead projector, internet connection, tracing table,
several survey and drawing instruments, stereoscope, rocks and minerals, satellite image, aerial photo, topographical map, weather map etc.
