Education was added as a pass subject for the first time in 1969 and in the year
2002 honours was introduced. The Department of Education is a full-fledged one with
a full time UGC post and in addition staffed by 2 part-time teachers presently.
Usually, the Department holds seminars with the whole-hearted cooperation of teachers
and students. Assignments on topics textual and otherwise have been completed by
the honours students under the guidance of the Departmental teachers. Remedial classes
besides regular ones are held for the students in necessary papers to ensure better
understanding of the subject.
Program outcomes
P.O. I: The purpose of the program is to guide the students and researchers
to analyze the ideas of rights, justice and freedom.
P.O. II: The program gives the students an insight into the different governmental
processes in India and assists them in a better understanding of Indian politics.
P.O. III: Understanding Indian Tradition and Culture: This course will let
the students to understand the basic roots, heritage and tradition of Indian culture.
P.O. IV: Development of Social Awareness: Another outcome of this course
is to develop them socially aware.
P.S.O. I: Reasoning Power: Logic will develop the reasoning power of the
students.
P.S.O. II: Skill Enhancement: The course will enhance the student’s skill
on the various social issues, in the field of argumentation.
P.S.O.III:Balanced Personality: This course will teach the students to be
balanced in all respects.
Infrastructure
The department has its own library containing books related to the subject matter
taught in the Department in addition to a Central Library in the College.
Academic Activities
The Department organizes invited lectures on topics from the syllabus. Besides classroom
teaching, teachers impart lessons through audio-visual aid and conducting educational
fours.

Our department organised Inter-disciplinary classes for students belonging to 4th
semester. Dr Angana Dutta of Sociology dept. was invited to deliver lecture on Inclusive
Education in accordance with CBCS Syllabus of Unit 3 , Paper-CC4/GE4.
Extension Activities
There are regular and active members of NSS unit of our College from the Department.
They actively participated in the Special Camp organized by the NSS unit at the
College Campus which took place in January 2017.
Krishangini Das of 1st year participated in Poush Utsav held on 31st December, 2016
under NSS organized by the Government of West Bengal.
Krishangini Das also participated in the dance programme of Basanta Utsav organized
by the Co-Curricular Committee of our College.

Student Achievements
Educational Excursion- Visited West Bengal Legislative Assembly (Budget Session)
and Kolkata High Court with the students of Department of Political Science on 25th
February 2015. Educational Excursion- College has organized an educational tour
to Bandel Church and Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's house on December, 2017.

Future Plans
The future prospect of Our Department is to organize inter-disciplinary classes,
