Sri Durgadas Bhattacharyya

Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College, affiliated to University of Calcutta was established by Late Ranadev Chaudhuri in 1965, at 30, Prince Anwar Shah Rd, Kolkata 700033. He had envisioned Higher Education for the poorer strata of Society for whom it was not easily available.
The college has been continuously modernised and upgraded to meet the changing needs of disseminating Higher education. Today we have 15 subjects with major (Honours) in Arts, Science and Commerce. The college has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2005 and 2016 and our college had been awarded B+ and B++ grade respectively. This upgradation of grade was possible due to academic excellence and overall performance of the students and staff.
Academic excellence is our aim and it is an uphill task, since our students’ population, to a large extent are first generation learners. In spite of that, the College comes up with remarkable result in all streams during last few years.
We have a very long way to go before we can rest on our laurels. I take my hats off to my past and present colleagues for their immense contribution and dedication for this institution. Our young students are the main inspiration of our college. I hope that, this will create a history by” leaving a mark in the human race”.
